Coming soon on Steam

What is known about the 2027 PC release

HUMANKIND 2 has a published release year, not a published calendar date. Steam's store page lists the planned release date as 2027 and says the game is not yet available. The press release of 25 August 2026 says the sequel is releasing on PC in 2027. Neither source prints a day or a month, and this page will not invent one.

Announcement date and planned year

Two dates are easy to mix up. The announcement date is 25 August 2026. That is the Paris dateline on the Games Press release, and it matches the publication time on Amplitude's community post the same day. The planned release is the year 2027. The announcement date is not a ship date.

Steam's coming-soon panel uses the heading "Planned Release Date" and the value "2027." The page also says, in the purchase area, that the game is not yet available on Steam. Wishlisting is the control Steam offers there, so a notice can be sent when the game becomes available.

A separate Steam event listing is also not a launch date. On 15 October 2026 the store data includes an event named "HUMANKIND 2 Gameplay Overview | The Path through History," scheduled from 13:10 to 14:02 UTC, with the subtitle "Follow the Ancient Egyptians through the early game." That entry documents a showcase window. It does not name a day in 2027.

Platforms

The press-release headline is "HUMANKIND 2 COMING TO PC IN 2027." Steam's platform flags list Windows and do not list macOS or Linux. No console is named in that press release or in those platform flags. Controller-support flags on the captured page are off: no full or partial Xbox controller support, no PlayStation controller flags, and no Steam Input API flag marked as supported. A mouse-only option is marked in the accessibility panel. That is a store flag, not a promise about future input support.

PC requirements Steam has printed

Unlike many coming-soon pages, this Steam entry already prints minimum and recommended PC requirements. They are store text as of the page captured for this guide on 16 October 2026. They can change before release. This guide did not fill any blank with a guess, because these lines are present.

Minimum and recommended PC specifications as printed on the Steam store page.

Languages marked on Steam

The store page says "English and 8 more" and offers a table of nine languages. English is the only language marked for interface, full audio, and subtitles. The other eight are marked for interface and subtitles, and full audio is not marked for them.

Language checkmarks copied from the Steam language table. "Not marked" means the cell was empty in that capture.

Store features, tags, and ratings

Steam's feature row lists Single-player, Multi-player, Steam Cloud, HDR available, and Family Sharing. The accessibility panel marks subtitles, color alternatives, custom volume controls, stereo sound, surround sound, playable without timed input, a mouse-only option, adjustable difficulty, save anytime, and playable at your own pace. It does not mark a keyboard-only option, narrated menus, or a resizable UI. None of these labels explain how a system plays. Multi-player, in particular, is a category name without a player count or mode description in the announcement copy.

A content block on the page says the product "Includes Interactive Elements" and names in-game chat and online interactivity. Separate age-rating entries in the store data do not collapse to one number. The app-level required-age field is 0, while regional entries list higher ratings:

Those entries are store metadata. They are not review scores. The review summary on the page is "No user reviews."

Price and editions

No price is listed. The captured store data includes no purchase package, and the visible purchase area is the coming-soon panel rather than a buy button. The app is not flagged as free. That still does not establish a future price, a regional price, or a deluxe edition. Anyone asking for a cost should wait for Steam to print one.

What remains unknown

  • The day and month of the 2027 PC release.
  • Whether macOS, Linux, or any console will be added later. They are not in the current listing.
  • The price, refund terms specific to a launch build, and any pre-purchase offer.
  • Whether the printed PC requirements will still be the ones on release day.
  • How multiplayer is structured, beyond the feature label and the note about online interactivity and in-game chat.
  • A critic score or a user-review score. There is nothing to cite.
